How to remove the automatic recording of the conference in the Zoom – detailed instructions

The default settings often have settings that are not user-friendly. We have prepared material on how to remove the automatic recording of the conference in the Zoom in order to be able to turn it on at will when necessary. 

How to disable auto-recording of conferences

First of all, make sure that autofill is really active. To do this, go to your personal account and click on «records». In the settings section, find the autorecording function. If you move the slider, it means that it is active. Move the slider to inactive mode, this will disable auto-saving of upcoming events.

Now you can save the meeting directly in the process, if you have the appropriate permissions. On the control panel, find the appropriate icon and click on it. If you are the organizer, or you have been granted permission, saving the meeting will begin.

If your meeting is already scheduled, it is quite possible that the autorecording function is still used in it. Turn it off manually.

To make changes to a future event, log in to your client, open the meetings tab and select the appropriate one. Find the edit button and click on it to start editing. You will need the «advanced settings» section. If the function is active, move the slider to deactivate the function. In Zoom, it is possible to organize individual meeting rooms. The user gets access to them through a dedicated link or a personal ID at any convenient time. You can also make changes to the parameters of this room at your discretion, including enabling and disabling autofill.

  • open the meetings section; 
  • click on the personal ID on the top toolbar; 
  • select «edit»; 
  • in the ID settings window, select additional; 
  • move the slider of the «automatically record meeting» option; 
  • save the changes.

Scheduled conference cycles can also be edited by disabling or allowing auto-save. Open the web version of the client and open your events. On the upcoming tab, select the one you want and click «edit» to start editing. Next, you can change the settings for the entire cycle of scheduled events, or only one of them. At the bottom, find the «webinar settings» item and deactivate the autosave option. Confirm your changes with the «save» button. Now you not only know how to remove the automatic recording of the conference in the Zoom, but you can also enable this feature again if necessary.
