How to show a presentation in Zoom via phone

After the coronavirus pandemic, Zoom has become an indispensable tool in business. The platform allows the company’s employees to connect to the meeting from anywhere in the world and discuss important business issues. Such online communication via shared video, audio or chat is suitable for holding meetings with colleagues at minimal cost – you only need a stable Internet connection and a mobile device.

New members of the app need to start by registering an account and downloading Zoom to hold work meetings, so they are wondering How to show a presentation in Zoom via phone?

Method 1: Screen Demonstration

In Zoom, you can show the presentation you created to all meeting participants at a conference or work meeting. To do this, you need to use the screen sharing feature. It must be enabled by the meeting organizer.

If you are going to share a video, you must pre–select two checkboxes in the lower left corner, one of which is designed for sharing computer sound (Share sound), and the other with the inscription Optimize for video clip.

When you share your screen, you and other participants can also comment on it.

The procedure is different for Android and iOS phone users.

Android

1. Select «Share» in the meeting controls.
2. Click on the desired content type.
3. Select a Screen: Share the entire screen of your phone.
4. Grant access to Zoom for your account.

To share the entire screen, including any app on your Android device:

1. Click Share in the Meeting Controls section.
2. Tap «Screen».
3. Android will display a notification informing you of what screen sharing will be available. Tap «Start Now» to confirm.
4. The screen sharing feature will start and Zoom will continue to run in the background.
5. Now you can select the app you want to share.
6. At the bottom of the screen, click Comment to open the annotation tools, or Stop Sharing to stop and return to the meeting controls.

Make sure that the audio generated by the application you are providing access to is allowed for use by non-system applications. Some applications may block access to audio for security and privacy reasons.

 To provide access to audio from the device:

1. Click on the «Share Audio» option located between the «Comment» and «Stop Sharing» options.
2. Click again to disable it, or click «Stop Sharing» to completely close the sharing.

iOS

To display the screen from an iOS phone, iOS 11 or later is required:

1. Select «Share Content» in the meeting controls.
2. Tap the type of content you want to share.
3. Open the document you want to demonstrate and click Share. The content is now available for public access to the meeting.

Method 2: Showing a presentation from a file

If you are creating a PowerPoint presentation that does not have transition animations, then one of the easiest ways to share it is to make it in PDF format. Open the presentation and select «Save as». In the Save As dialog box, select PDF. You can save it both for electronic distribution and for printing.

When you are ready for the presentation, open the PDF file in a program such as Adobe Reader. Then you can navigate through the presentation by going from one page to another.

If your PowerPoint presentation has transitions and animations, viewing slides in a window is one of the best options, especially if you have only one monitor and it is small. This sharing method allows you to access meeting features such as chat during a meeting or manage participants, as well as share a PowerPoint presentation or easily switch windows. Depending on your version of PowerPoint, the following steps may differ:

1. Open the PowerPoint file.
2. Go to the «Slide Show» tab, then «Slide Show Settings».
3. In the «Display Type» section, select «User-viewed» (window), then click OK.
4. Switch PowerPoint to slide show mode by selecting the Slide Show tab From the Beginning or From the Current Slide. PowerPoint will display the slideshow in the window.
5. During the session, click «Share Screen» in the meeting controls.
6. Open the PowerPoint pop-up window and tap «Share».

Files on the device

To show any files to the meeting participants on the phone screen, you need to select what exactly you will show and open the appropriate application with photos or documents. As a phone screen demonstrator, you can click «Share» yourself and select the files you want to demonstrate.

Wait for the download, after which the file will open on the screens of other participants in the meeting without having to take additional actions.

Cloud services

1. To open a document from the cloud storage, click the «Share» button and decide which service you will open the file from.
2. Click the «Connect» button and log in to the cloud service website after switching to the browser.
3. After that, select your profile and log in through the form that pops up in a separate window.
4. To start showing the document on the screen, tap «Share screen» and confirm your action with a check mark in the pop-up window.

Method 3: Website Demonstration

Through the built-in browser, you can also show a presentation on the phone screen. Links to sites and files available for opening will be displayed there. This method can also be used with cloud services.

Select «Share» and type in the «Site URL». After that, enter the link in the pop-up window.

Presentation Management

A whole range of additional tools are available to manage your presentation during a screen demonstration. For example, the «Pointer» function will allow you to mark an area in the presentation to draw the attention of the meeting participants you see online.
