Installing the program
YAT can be used in a browser or installed as a separate program. Let’s consider both ways.

Installing a desktop application (for Windows and macOS computers)
Go to the download page. Open your favorite browser and take a look at the official YAT page (usually telemost.yandex.ru). There you will immediately see a button or a link to download the program specifically for your operating system (that is, for Windows or macOS). Download the installation file. Run it:
- For Windows. Once the file is downloaded, find it (it is usually saved in the Downloads folder) and double-click on it. And then just follow all the instructions that will appear on the installer screen. The program itself will be written to a standard folder.
- For mac OS. Double-click on the downloaded file with the .dmg extension. A window will open, and there you will just need to drag the program icon to the “Applications” folder. Choosing a microphone

Choosing speakers/headphones
In the same section where you selected the microphone, select where the sound will come from. There is usually a Check or Test ring button so that when you turn it on, you can make sure that everything is audible.
Noise reduction
Some versions of the Teleconference are able to remove unnecessary background noise themselves (for example, fan noise or conversations in the background). If you see such a feature, be sure to turn it on to make your voice sound clearer!
Setting up the video (camera)

The fastest way (without logging in to your account)
This method is useful if you need to start a call quickly and you don’t want to log in to Yandex ID.
Open YAT:
- In the browser, by going to the telemost address.yandex.ru.
- In the desktop application. By running YAT on your computer.
- In the mobile version. By opening YAT on a smartphone or tablet.
Find the Create appointment button. Sometimes it can be called New Meeting or simply Create.
Click on it. YT will instantly create a new conference. You will immediately find yourself in the waiting room.
After creating a meeting, a link to connect participants will appear on the screen. There is usually a Copy link button next to it (or a copy icon). Click on it.
Send this copied link to those whom you want to invite to the meeting by email, messenger (Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber, etc.), SMS, or even just by dictating.
As soon as the participants click on the link, they will be able to join your conference.
Create an appointment with a Yandex ID login (for advanced features)
If you are logged in to Yandex ID (as we discussed earlier), you get a bonus – Calendar integration.
Open the Teleconference. Start a conversation by clicking on the appropriate button. There may be slight differences here:
- An instant meeting. Click the Create Now or Start an instant appointment button, which works the same way as in the web version.
- Schedule a meeting. Press the Create an appointment in the Calendar button).
By selecting the second option, you will be taken to Yandex.Calendar. There you can select the date, time, duration of the meeting and, most importantly, invite participants by simply specifying their email address. At the same time, the Calendar itself will send them invitations with a ready link to go to Yandex.Mail.
Before sending the link, the Teleconference will suggest giving a name to the meeting so that the participants understand what will be discussed. YAT also suggests checking before entering that the microphone and camera are configured correctly.
After the conversation has started, on the bottom toolbar you will find buttons for enabling/disabling the camera, microphone, screen demonstration, opening a chat, raising your hand and other functions.
How to join a hangout
The organizer must send you a unique link. She can come in a chat, by mail, or even through a calendar – there are many options! Feel free to follow it! If you’re on a computer, just open this link in any modern browser.
And if you log in from a smartphone or tablet, just click on the link. If you already have the YAT app installed, it will open automatically. If not, the system will immediately prompt you to either open an appointment directly in the browser or download the app.
The teleconference will ask you to introduce yourself so that all participants can understand who exactly joined them. But you don’t have to introduce yourself.
Both the browser and the app will ask you for permission to use the camera and microphone. Be sure to allow it. Click “Join” to enter the conference. And now you’re almost there, welcome!
And if the organizer has turned on the waiting room, then you will need to wait a little while until he gives the go-ahead and allows you to enter.
What can I do at the meeting?

Share the screen

The organizer or any participant (if the organizer has given such a right) can start recording the hangout. You will usually find the Start Recording button somewhere at the bottom of the screen or in the menu, which you will see by clicking on the three dots.
As soon as you select recording, a timer will appear right next to the icon, which will show how long the video recording has been going on. By the way, all participants will immediately receive a notification that recording has begun – this is necessary in order to fully respect confidentiality, and the rights of other interlocutors will not be violated!
To stop video recording, simply press the same key again, which will now most likely be called “Stop”. And another interesting point: if you were actively chatting during the meeting, the Teleconference will prompt you to save the entire message history to a separate text file (.txt).
How to download a recording of a meeting in Yandex Teleconference
